This November, West African Festival Inc (WAF) will launch the African Rhythm & Roots Festival for the first time in Sydney, showcasing the sounds, sights, tastes and the spirit of West Africa. WAF has been bringing the rich and diverse African and African-Australia culture to Sydney for its 6th year running. As a highlight on the multicultural arts events calendar, this annual event features Australia’s most prominent West African musicians and dancers of both African and Australian origin, drum and dance workshops, food and cultural stalls.
Along with a stellar line up of high energy and multi-award winning international Afro and Reggae artists such as Afro Moses, King Tide, Afro Kidz and Keyim Ba, traditional and modern food and beverages will also be available. Colourful artisan market stalls will offer a wide range of African textiles, arts and crafts, musical instruments and artefacts. The African drum and dance workshops along with a Kids Zone will make for a culturally enriching day out.
This will be a unique event accessible to the whole community and is a great way to highlight the importance of music and dance as a cross-cultural experience for all Australians. WAF is a not-for-profit incorporated association.
