World’s best surfers, skaters and musicians converge on Manly beach for nine-day action sports and music celebration.
FORMER world surfing champion Mark Occhilupo will make his return to competitive surfing alongside the likes of Joel Parkinson, Jordy Smith and Taj Burrow as iconic Manly Beach prepares to host the inaugural Australian Open of Surfing presented by Hurley and Billabong from February 11-19, 2012.
The free and family-friendly nine-day celebration of youth culture will feature a bowl-skateboard contest made up of local and international athletes to complement the men’s, women’s and junior pro surfing events, and will also incorporate a music line-up to rival any music festival in the country (stay tuned for line-up announcements).
The Australian Open of Surfing is an extension of the world’s largest action sports festival, the US Open of Surfing. The annual event held at Huntington Beach, California, celebrates inclusion and creativity while inspiring the next generation of athletes and artists.
