DARLING HARBOUR NEW YEAR’S EVE 2015
Spectacular fireworks synchronised to a soundtrack by renowned DJ and music programmer, Tyson Koh, will light up the sky above Cockle Bay at Darling Harbour this New Year’s Eve, as part of a celebration that the world talks about.
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s much-anticipated FREE Darling Harbour NYE event will this year include six flame-jet shows around Cockle Bay and off Pyrmont Bridge, in addition to fireworks at 9pm and midnight.
Creative Producer for Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Michael Cohen, said the best viewing spots for the fireworks will be from around Cockle Bay and to best enjoy the festivities, people should plan to arrive early by public transport and do not bring glass to the event.
“Viewing spots around Cockle Bay are prized, so come early to find your preferred spot. Take public transport and enter Darling Harbour from the south, near the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Signage and security staff will be in place on the night to help guide you,” said Mr Cohen.
“As areas of Darling Harbour reach capacity, security will be restricting access and movement around the precinct, so arrive early and settle in for what is sure to be a memorable send-off to 2015 and a spectacular welcome to 2016.
“For those who prefer to be indoors, make sure you make a reservation,” added Mr Cohen. Bookings are now being taken for NYE 2015 events at Darling Harbour’s restaurants, clubs and bars.
Glass and BYO alcohol will not be permitted within public spaces at Darling Harbour. Bags will be checked at all entry points, including Pyrmont Bridge, and anyone found with glass or alcohol must either discard those items or wait to be escorted by Rangers. Pyrmont Bridge will close to bicycle riders as early as 10am on 31 December.
The 2015 Sydney New Year’s theme is City of Colour; a tribute to our beaches, parks and vibrant city life, along with our diverse backgrounds, culture and rich history.
Mr Cohen said “Darling Harbour is a perfect fit with this theme with our diverse and fun-filled events throughout the year, such as Darling Harbour Culture Beats, the recent Darling Harbour FIESTA festival and the upcoming celebrations of Darling Harbour Australia Day and Chinese New Year.”
Darling Harbour attracts 26 million visitors to Darling Harbour each year, helping to contribute $800 million annually to the NSW visitor economy.
Sydney’s NYE fireworks typically attract a global audience of more than one billion people.
