Sydney Olympic Park Authority and Auburn City Council will present a ripper of an event on Australia Day 2013 from 12noon – 9.00pm at beautiful Bicentennial Park at Sydney Olympic Park.
The FREE Australia Day Celebrations will include a smorgasbord of food stalls from noon and an entertainment program that is guaranteed to delight from 2.00pm.
Off-stage entertainment will feature FREE kids’ activities, sheep shearing, whip cracking, sheep dog trial shows, an animal farm, kangaroo characters, pony and amusement rides, face-painting, Indigenous dance and art workshops, craft stalls, a community bazaar and much more.
Also at 2.00pm, an Aboriginal dance ceremony and Acknowledgement of Country service will start an extraordinary main-stage entertainment program to include a colonial dance performance by Australian Heritage Dancers, music by the Tuckitinya Bush Band, a modern Australiana-themed dance act by the Whiz Kidz, the hilarious Leo Bonne’s Kids’ Circus and Magic Show as well as the Bollywood Sensations – a crowd-favourite Indian cultural dance-act.
As a special event this year, a giant ‘25’ human insignia will be formed by more than 600 Sydneysiders in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Bicentennial Park, which has seen more than 1.2 million visitors per year since its opening in January 1988. The human formation will take place at 4.00pm and will span 40m wide by 40m long.
