KIDS IN THE PARK TURNS THE BIG 50!
SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK CELEBRATES 50 CONSECUTIVE PROGRAMS OF SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN!
Sydney Olympic Park’s renowned school holiday activities program marks a milestone this spring, when the 50th consecutive Kids in the Park line-up of school holiday boredom-busters is held at various venues across the Park EVERY DAY of the NSW school holidays, from 24 September – 9 October 2016 (inclusive).
Kids in the Park makes Sydney Olympic Park the official home of the BIGGEST range of school holiday activities of any single location in NSW. The program has operated during every NSW school holiday period since mid-2004.
Boasting more than 60 activities – including more than a dozen FREE as well as good-value options less than $25 per person – Kids in the Park spring 2016 is sure to delight parents as much as children of all ages.
Hot off Australia’s first Olympic medal in the sport at the recent Rio Olympic Games, Archery activities for various ages and skill levels are pin-pointed for fun; as are the FREE Games at the Armory where kids can experience activities played during the first half of the 1900s including hoop rolling, paper craft, knuckle games and quoits.
NEW to Kids in the Park, Acro Yoga – Path of the Dancing Warrior will see kids aged 5-14 face-paint, bang drums and meditate at Cathy Freeman Park. For teens aged 10-14, the NEW Sports Camps Australia BodyMindSol Teen Yoga – Path of the Dancing Warrior will provide an ideal opportunity to connect with new-found friends through voice, music, art, yoga and ceremony at Netball Central, where a separate class for ages 5-9 will also be offered.
Nature-lovers will relish encountering and learning the calls of some of the Park’s feathered residents in the unique and FREE Walk and Squawk activity at the heritage-listed Newington Armory, where history-buffs can also Ride the Rails on-board the Park’s Heritage Train which once used to transport missiles, torpedoes and other munitions.
Kids in the Park is especially designed to entertain children of all interests. Creative kids will be encouraged to let their imaginations run wild at The Writing Workshop series at Bicentennial Park, where science is also super stimulating at hands-on Fizzics Education workshops.
FREE at Newington Armory, Operation Art features more than 800 artworks by kindergarten – grade 10 school students who channeled their creativity to produce art pieces for patients of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
For more physical ‘monsters’, the range of action sports at Monster Activities offer unparalleled – yet safe and supervised – fun on skateboards, BMX, scooters and in-line skates.
More than 50 sports are played at Sydney Olympic Park, making it the perfect playground for kids to get active. Gym Sports, Cricket – Thunder Kids: T20, a Holiday Water Polo Clinic and Basketball – MyHoops are just a few of the highlights for sporty kids at Sydney Olympic Park this spring.
