Although some kids may be too young to even recall ‘the best Games ever’ – kids of all ages will be able to join-in the fun and excitement this spring at Sydney Olympic Park, where a special Sydney 2000 Olympic Games 15th anniversary-themed Kids in the Park program will operate DAILY during the NSW spring school holidays, from 19 September – 5 October 2015.
Kids in the Park makes the Park the official home of the BIGGEST range of school holiday activities of any single location in NSW! The Kids in the Park spring 2015 program boasts more than 70 school holiday activity options for kids of all ages, interests and budgets.
Featuring 14 FREE and 17 good-value options at less than $25 per person, Kids in the Park spring 2015 will also showcase three NEW activities and three Sydney 2000 Olympic Games anniversary-themed activities too.
Adventurous kids can explore FREE Clue Trails – Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games on 25 September and 2 October, when clues will be hidden across the Park for kids to find with the aid of a map. With plenty of fun facts to learn along the way, the activity will start at the corner of Showground Road and Herb Elliott Avenue at Sydney Olympic Park.
At the historic Newington Armory, budding triathletes and sports-loving kids can attend a NEW day camp called Sports Camp Australia – Junior Triathlon Skills Camp. To operate from 22-23 September, the camp will include heaps of fun games to not only entertain but also teach attendees triathlon skills.
At the world-renowned Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, the ULTIMATE family fun day will take place at the Splash Festival on Sunday 27 September. This year, the Splash Festival will host the Peppa Pig and George Pig Live Stage Show, and there will be plenty of pool inflatables, circus arts and pony rides to go around on the day.
Nature-lovers can meet the feathered residents of Sydney Olympic Park at the NEW and FREE Walk and Squawk tour of the BirdLife Discovery Centre on 24 & 25 September. Attendees will learn all sorts of fun facts and the calls of the many bird species of the Park.
Creative kids will be able to let their imaginations run wild at the Media Literacy and Digital Filmmaking Workshop at Newington Armory on 28-30 September. Kids aged 10-15 will learn how to create a story as well as produce, shoot and edit their own movie and film soundtrack.
Possibly the year’s biggest kids’ party, Nickelodeon’s SLIMEFEST will take place at the Sports Centre on 25 September, when kids can expect performances from The Veronicas, Samantha Jade and Timmy Trumpet and of course lots and lots of slime!
