Pull out the pram or strap on your Baby Bjorn for Culture Mamas’ Street Art Walking Tour and uncover a new side of Melbourne. On this tour you will learn the secrets of Melbourne’s vibrant scene from an established street artist who will guide you through the outdoor gallery that adorns the laneways of the CBD.
As well as discovering hidden treasures of this urban art style, you will also learn about the technical aspects involved in spray painting, stencil art and paste-ups, the social and political aspects in the work and the significant role artists have made in making Melbourne one of the most important destinations in the world for Street Art.
These walking tours were a huge hit last year after which one of the attendees said: “I felt like a tourist in my own city. It was the best day out I have had since I became a mum.”
Whether toddling along or enjoying the view from the pram, it is also a great morning out for the wee ones who are thoroughly entertained by the bright colours and ever changing landscape.
After two hours of gentle walking through Melbourne’s CBD, the tour ends with nibbles at the renowned Blender Studios in Franklin Street where you will be led through the gallery and can take a sneak peak at artists at work.
But get in early, tickets sold out quickly in 2012 and tour numbers are strictly limited!
The venue for this event is the streets of Melbourne CBD, so be prepared with appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.
This tour is suitable for young bubs or toddlers who can stay tucked up in their pram, as well as older toddlers as children who can walk around guided by their adult.
