    It is time for females across NSW to double-knot those laces, stretch those calf muscles and don the sunscreen for the eighth annual Women’s Sports Festival at Sydney Olympic Park from 20 February – 20 March 2016.

    A celebration of female participation in sport and intended to encourage girls and women of all fitness abilities to lead healthy and active lifestyles, the Festival coincides with International Women’s Day (on 8 March 2016).

    To be held at various venues within Sydney Olympic Park, the Women’s Sports Festival 2016 program features a range of events and activities, including…

    NSW SWIFTS 2016 SEASON LAUNCH AND FAMILY FUN DAY – FREE to the public, in and around Netball Central adjacent to the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre, the event will provide loads of interactive activities for families and furthermore, fans will score the opportunity to rub shoulders with players from the NSW Swifts.

    NETBALL NSW CONFERENCE – ADMINISTRATION, COACHING AND UMPIRING – the 2016 Biennial Conference will cater for all levels of netball coaches, umpires, officials, administrators and supporters, focusing on education, learning and development opportunities for those members of the netball community who wish to develop their skills, network and galvanize themselves for the season ahead.

    THE HEART FOUNDATION GEAR UP GIRL CYCLING EXHIBITION – presented by Bicycle NSW: Grab your friends and family for a Gear Up Girl Cycling celebration. Take part in led Discovery Rides around Sydney Olympic Park and its surrounds.  Find your bearings and discover new routes on safe, off-road cycle-ways. The ride will be a short, easy ride that allows riders to have fun and brush up on their cycling skills!  That’s not all!  Free workshops, nutrition seminars and bike mechanics too!  Don’t miss out.

    THE HEART FOUNDATION GEAR UP GIRL RIDE – presented by Bicycle NSW: Sydney’s largest, women’s-only recreational bike ride! Gear Up Girl Ride is an annual charity cycling event, showcasing some of Sydney’s most spectacular separated cycle-ways. Starting at Olympic Park and finishing in a festival at Cronulla Beach. With 20km, 40km and 60km options; there is a ride to suit all ages and abilities.

    • WHEN: Sunday 13 March, 7am-2pm
    • WHERE: Start Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park (60km/40km) – Finish Cronulla OR  start Cahill Park, Wolli Creek (20km) finish Cronulla
    • COST: $25-$45 per adult, depending on Ride route. Children free with paying adult

    encourages all women to build their confidence to ride more and improve their comfort, control and safety on the bike. Partners and friends (male or female) are welcome to attend. The ride skills and maintenance components are for women only though.

     ANZ CHAMPIONSHIP OFFICIAL PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT The NSW Swifts, Melbourne Vixens, West Coast Fever, Central Pulse (NZ) and Mainland Tactix (NZ) netball teams will compete against each other across three days. The weekend will see each team contest six games, which will include a combination of 60 and 30-minute matches. The event is one not to be missed by netball enthusiasts.

    • WHEN: Friday-Sunday 18-20 March, Friday 5:30pm – 8:30pm, Saturday 9am – 1pm, Saturday 2pm – 6pm and Sunday 4pm-7pm
