I miss many things from the UK. From Somerset House to Greenwich, the winter holidays are not complete without a trip to an outdoor ice rink. So I was excited to discover that there is an ice skating rink in World Square, Sydney. It’s open now until Sunday 14 July. “Family fun that will keep the kids active and won’t break the budget, says Ben Davis Centre Manager, World Square Retail.
The rink will operate from 11am until 9pm from Monday to Saturday and from 11am to 7pm on Sundays. The late night option allows the big kids to try it out too.
Children tickets are $6 and adult tickets are $10 for a 45 minute session on the ice. Family passes will also be available for $26 and all prices include free skate hire.
The best part is that if you spend $30 or more at any World Square specialty store, you will receive a free child or adult skate pass to use on the same day. So you could take the kids to lunch at one of the many food options available or treat yourself to a new outfit and get a bonus skate pass.
My oldest is only three so I think we will try the penguin rides.
I am not sure it will be the same as wrapping up in London but the entire precinct will be getting into the winter spirit with snow falling daily, snowflakes and fairy lights transporting visitors to a winter wonderland. I am excited now…!
World Square is located at 680 George Street and is in walking distance from both Town Hall and Central stations.
Tickets are available for pre-purchase online from: www.worldsquare.com.au
