I started reading this book to my two when we were all suffering from jet-lag. Very apt, as it is about a little girl, who wakes up in the middle of the night, while the rest of the house is sleeping. With nobody awake to tell her off, she can do just as she pleases in the exciting night-time world..

I normally don’t read to my kids in the middle of the night but I make an exception for jet lag and illness.

This is an exquisite little picture book, very calming and beautifully illustrated by Komako Sakai, one of the most popular children’s author/illustrators in Japan. My little ones are hooked and ask for it every night before bedtime.
