A new range of dolls from the UK provides young children with an alternative to the Barbie and Bratz dolls.
I love the idea of these new “Lottie” dolls from UK, I just read an article about them in the Guardian. Having a young daughter I feel a lot happier with the idea of her playing with a doll that is really a child rather than a weirdly proportioned grown women. See the company’s website here: www.lottie.com
Lottie has been developed with some core principles relating to the issue of body image and a positive take on childhood. Unlike other fashion dolls that are more ‘adult’ in tone, Lottie is first and foremost a child of nine (9) with a child-like body. She does not wear makeup, nor does she sport tattoos, jewellery or high heels. She loves to dress up in pretty clothes but is equally happy to be active, outdoors and getting muddy.
The Lottie websites says you can buy these dolls from Amazon UK and Amazon USA but they are not able to deliver them to Australia. The only place to buy them in Australia at the moment is: Women’s Forum Australia. I have also heard from the company that the doll will be available in major stores some time next year. Sign up to our newsletter and we will send you more info on Lottie Dolls in Australia when we get updates from the UK company.
