    Fairlight Playgroup

This friendly, relaxed playgroup is not listed on the national playgroup site (www.playgroupaustralia.com.au) but it is a playgroup nonetheless and a very nice one at that!

The strength is the outdoor play area which has recently been done up, and includes sandpit, painting area, playhouse, slides. It’s fenced in and therefore very safe. It has a sun canopy for shade. Inside there are two rooms, one with a craft table for playdoh etc and includes kitchen facilities.

Tea and biscuits are provided for parents / carers. The other larger room has an endless amount of toys. It’s clean and well-organised, with the toys divided into areas. The two-hour session is fairly unstructured but there is time allowed for morning tea and a story at 11. Then the group ends with song and music. The playgroup runs Tuesday till Friday from 10 till 12 and cost $6 per visit for children over one. It’s a little tricky to find. The entrance is right beside a church building with a sign saying “William Street Studios”.

Love this place. Such a great morning outing for my two kids (aged 4 and 2). They especially love the trampoline and playing in the sandpit, as well as making lots of little friends. It’s a saviour for us as we don’t have a backyard. The singalong at the end is always a nice way to round off a lovely morning.

Great outdoor space for children to explore, a wide variety of toys and craft experiences that keep children very busy and content. Amy (who runs the group on only one of the days) is always very welcolming.

This playgroup sadly is not what it use to be. When I showed up today, no one greeted me yet there were two ladies in the kitchen who I later realised were running it. I had to ask how much I needed to pay and where. The backyard was a mess! Absolutely nothing like the photos on this website. No clean up of leaves had clearly been done in a very long time. The slide was unusable and there were spider webs on all the equipment! The sandpit no longer resembled a sandpit and inside was filthy. The shelves where some of the toys were kept, were covered in dust and sand. When it was story time outside, no one bothered to let everyone know and it was only when we went out that we found it was finished. I’m not even sure what the $6 I paid covers, it’s certainly not maintenance! Many people I’ve spoken to prior to coming today, have made comments about the smell inside and its lack of cleanliness. Overall pretty disappointing. Not quite the level of cleanliness and friendliness as St Matts playgroup in a manly.

Lovely, relaxed playgroup. Very friendly group of mums. Fabulous, as it’s very casual so you can just turn up any morning (Tues – Fri)… rather than have to commit to a ‘term’ or ‘particular day’. Fabulous outdoor area (with big shelter for hot days), lots of toys and activities (painting, playdough), and a great indoor area for cold and wet days. My toddler LOVES the music, songs and dancing at the end of every session.

Great playgroup – went there with my 3yr and 1yr. It was raining so could not enjoy the outside equipment, but there was so much to play with indoors. My 3yr loved the playdoh table.

      Very friendly playgroup.
